Operating the Heating Mantle:
To avoid superheating, all heating mantles must be controlled by a variable AC power source.
See our calibrated Power Controllers for low cost, light weight controls. Other controllers will work, such as variable power transformers (VAC), but are expensive, heavy, and cumbersome.
Operate the heating mantles off the bench top by at least 1″ on a heat resistant support. Small heating mantles (≤100 mL) can be operated directly on a non-wood bench top using sheet aluminum as a heat sink. However, power levels should not exceed 40%.
Storing and Handling:
The heating mantles can be damaged by improper handling, especially when hot. Never at anytime lift or move the mantle by its power cord. Never wrap the power cord around the mantle when hot. Factory install handles are available for an additional $5.00 upon request. |
